Marcana

Marcana, a village located north of Pula at the intersection of the Pula-Labin and Vodnjan-Krnica roads, is the seat of the municipality of the same name. Historical sources bear witness to the dense population of these areas during Antiquity. Marcani is mentioned for the first time in written sources in 1243 in the act of Pula's oath of allegiance to the Venetians. Namely, at that time Marcana belonged to the Pula area, and then in 1331 it fell under the rule of the Republic of Venice. Near Marcana there is an idyllic village called Kavran, from which there is a beautiful view of the Kvarner Bay. In the village of Prodol you can enjoy long walks through forests of oak trees. The tourist center of Duga Uvala offers you a 300-meter long beach and a modern sports center. You can also visit the underground of the Marchan Riviera, going down to the Ljubic cave, the Golubinka cave and the Perešin oven. The port of Krnica is located deep inland, and its seabed is ideal for diving and sports tourism. It is believed that Krnica offers the best prepared shrimp in the Adriatic.
